Kelso Thistle Match Reports

Saturday 8th October

Kelso Thistle 2 Gala Hotspur 2

This top of the table clash ended all square with Kelso scoring all 4 goals. Hotspur started the better and dominated the game and went in front when Thistle goalie Mark White made a good save only to see it rebound into an empty net off the helpless Neil Picken. Thistle started to get into the game and were the better team when Chris Gordon poked home the equaliser. Both teams were giving it a real go but then Gala went in front again when Picken lobbed his own goalie from 20 yards after a mix up. With Picken on his hat-trick, it was in Thistle's best interest to get him off asap. Thistle made a couple of changes at that time and one of them paid off when Liam Hill pounced to slam home the equaliser. Both teams gave their all with both teams tiring near the end and it ended all square.

Thistle got back to winning ways after a much better performance against unbeaten Bowholm. An early Jamie Wright goal was soon followed by a Liam Hill strike to put Thistle in command. The game evened out and both teams gave it their all but midway through the 2nd half Scott Turnbull scored the crucial 3rd goal. Bowholm did fight back and scored when the Thistle defence failed to clear a corner but it wasn`t enough and Thistle went on to secure the 3 points.

Saturday 3rd September

Kelso Thistle 1 Winton 2

Thistle's unbeaten start to the season came to an end after a close game at Woodside Park. Winton took the lead in the 1st half during a period of them dominating the game, but Thistle still created some good chances which were squandered. But they did equalise just before the break when Ryan Beveridge slammed the ball home. It was an even 2nd half with both teams giving it all but the game was decided when Winton were given a penalty 10 minutes from time from which they scored to secure the 3 points.

Tuesday 30th August

Kelso Thistle 5 Hawick Legion Rovers 0

Thistle ran out comfortable winners against a very young Hawick team, but it was a below-par performance. They played some good football at times but they also huffed and puffed through a lot of the game. Mark Currie (2), Jamie Wright, Ryan Beveridge and an og were on target for Thistle, but they did squander a lot of great chances and wasted a lot of good possession. But it is still 4 wins out of 4 for Thistle so the squad must be doing something right.

Saturday 27th August

Gala Athletic 2 Kelso Thistle 8

Thistle eventually got going and played some good passing football at times. Goals from Shane Bonnington (2), Mark Currie (2), and Ryan Beveridge put Thistle in command at half time. Into the 2nd half, Thistle were rocked when centre half, Craig Blair, had to be carried off with a serious knee injury then they lost 2 poor goals. They regained their composure and went onto score more goals through Beveridge, Jamie Wright and Scott Turnbull to keep their unbeaten start to the season going.
