Sunday 18th May 2008 SBJFA Cup

Kelso 4 Peebles 5

Scorers: M. Ledgerwood (3) N. McGurn,

In true cup fashion, a tense Under 17`s SBJFA match was fought out at Woodside Park on Sunday 11th May. Vying for a home tie in the next round, Kelso`s young side lost out to a last minute goal from a Peebles corner, with no time to fight back from the 4-5 deficit. A draw at one a piece at half time and no team ever going more than one goal ahead, the tie ebbed and flowed until Michael Ledgerwood completed an excellent hat trick with 2 minutes to go. However, with the score at 4-4, Peebles broke forward to snatch the late winner from a set piece and frustrate a battling Kelso side who deserved something from the game in which they matched their much larger opponents. Both teams qualify for the semi - finals and may yet meet again.

Scorers: Ryan Beveridge, Shaun Jerdan 2, Sean Hook, Shane Bonnington

Ten men Jed make it tough end for Kelso. Kelso ended their league season with a 5-2 win over a Jedburgh side which brought only ten players. Jed took the game to Kelso from the start and went 2-0 up in a terrible 20 minutes for Kelso. Kelso swapped out the defense and began to get into the game. Both sides had chances before half time, Ryan Beveridge shot going into the top right hand corner making it 2-1 before half time. Second half began with Kelso pushing for the equalizer but Jed defended very well and was dangerous on the break. Shaun Jerdan equalized and then scored again with a penalty to make it 3-2.( which he had to retake as Kelso infringed on the box) This also meant Jed went down to nine men and Kelso added another two before the end. A fantastic free kick outside the box from Shane Bonnington made it 4-2 and Sean Hook made it 5-2 when he run the ball in from inside the six yard box.

Hawick 3 Kelso 2

Scorers: Duncan Rennie,Ally Johnston

Hawick came out on top after a hard fought game at Wilton Park. Both teams started well but a 5 minute spell midway through the game cost Kelso when Hawick scored 3 goals in 5 minutes after some poor defending by the away team. But Kelso got going again and stormed back into the game with goals from Duncan Rennie and Ally Johnston but it was a bit to late to complete the comeback.
