SFA QUALITY MARK

Kelso Football Club, after 18months of hard work, has attained the Scottish Football Association Quality Mark Award. Michael Sharp, Scottish FA, South East Regional Manager, visited Woodside Park, on Sunday 11th November to present the club with the award.

The clubs has 11 teams that start at 8’s and goes all the way up to the senior team who compete in the East of Scotland League. They also run a football centre for boys and girls from the age of 5 – 11 years of age. The club have worked hard to ensure local Children in Kelso receive age appropriate coaching. The committee have also put in place key management and administration practices to ensure the club functions efficently and enables the coaches in the club to advance through the Scottish FA coach education structure.                                                                    

Andrew Torrance club secretary, who was the driving force behind the submission, commented “I am delighted for everyone involved in this initiative that Kelso Football Club has attained this award. I think the thing that pleases me most about our progress during the last year is that we have attracted a number of new and enthusiastic committee members for the newly formed Youth Committee which bodes well for the future and also we have a great bunch of coaches”.

Kelso become the fourth club in the Scottish Borders to attain the award alongside Selkirk FC, Ancrum FC and Gala Football Club. All clubs are part of the Scottish Borders Junior FA and follow the Scottish FA's recomended player pathway with teams playing 4v4 then 7v7 all the way through 12's before entering the development 11 aside format.
